A powerful recipe with turmeric from Ayurveda
Have you ever heard about the fantastic healing power of turmeric root (also called tumeric or yellow ginger)?
Turmeric acts as an antioxidant against aging, is anti-inflammatory, cleans the liver, stimulates the metabolism, helps with digestive problems and is even said to prevent cancer. To name but a few of the enormous healing powers of this root.
Turmeric is fat-soluble, i.e. in order for the body to use it, it needs a little fat. If you use turmeric powder in a dish, it is therefore always advisable to first fry the turmeric powder with a little oil.

The Turmeric Paste is a simple and delicious way to incorporate turmeric into your diet. The recipe contains healthy fat, so your body can make the most of turmeric.
Traditionally, the turmeric paste is stirred into warm milk and then drunk as "golden milk". You can of course also stir the paste into oat milk, nut milk, spelt milk - whatever you like best. Depending on your taste, the turmeric paste can also be stirred into other dishes. Whether soups, sauces, yoghurt - experimenting makes fun :-)
The turmeric is a wonderful immune system booster - we all need it now - and especially in the autumn season!
Recipe instructions: Turmeric Paste
½ cup of turmeric powder
1,5 cups of water
1.5 tsp. ginger powder or 1 tbsp. freshly grated ginger
¼ tsp ground black pepper
1 teaspoon cinnamon powder
1 teaspoon ground cardamom
¼ tsp. salt
3 tablespoons coconut oil or clarified butter (ghee)
Optional: 2 tablespoons honey
Mix the ginger, cinnamon, cardamon, pepper and salt and put it aside.
Put 1.5 cups of water in a pot and stir in the turmeric powder. Heat the pot slowly while stirring continuously (wooden spoon, no metal!) until a paste is formed.
Add the spices and continue stirring at low temperature until a thick, creamy paste is formed.
Take the paste from the stove and add the desired fat.
Leave the paste to cool until it is lukewarm and only add the honey when you want to. You can also leave out the honey and only sweeten when you add the paste to the milk.
Pour the paste into a clean, sterilized screw-top glass, let it cool completely and then put it in the refrigerator. The paste can be kept in the refrigerator for 2-3 weeks. (You can easily sterilize the screw-on jar by pouring boiling water in it, letting it stand for 10 minutes and then pouring out the water).
For a glass of golden milk, take 1 teaspoon of the paste and stir it into the warm milk.
Good luck!
Bon week-end!
Yours, Dagmar
