How can mindfulness and meditation help during this time?

As our body changes, we also become aware of the transience of life. This deep insight can help us to look at our life from a different perspective - beyond what we think we are and what we think we see "out there".

In meditation we search for another reality - the one that makes us aware of what and who we really are. Growing older encourages us to look "behind the scenes". We can become aware of ourselves, perceive and look at our body and inner processes. Meditation has been proven to train our attention and concentration. It can help us to maintain an awake, clear awareness of what we are experiencing through inner states on the outside.  We become aware that everything is transitory. And we can use this knowledge of transience to initiate a process of change through which we can develop further.

Through meditation we create a possibility to deal with what we are currently experiencing in such a way that we become free from habitual views that prevent us from moving on. And through meditation we develop our capacity for compassion and wisdom. Through this we can help other people better and become an enrichment of our environment.

In order not to be carried away by our feelings, mindfulness helps. You need a mindfulness that is focused on what is going on inside you, in everything you do. Then you are not carried away when something happens. Only then can we develop our full potential.

An essential point is how to bring mindfulness and meditation into your daily routine. Most of us have a lot to do all the time. Our life today is quite hectic. But even if the body is busy with many activities, the mind can be in a peaceful state at the same time. You can be mindful of everything you do at the same time.

If we are able to combine mindfulness with a non-judgmental and non-judgmental attitude, even if only now and then, it can be helpful for us in that we can perceive things and experiences with more serenity.
